British-Nigerian artist Essence Martins has released another captivating single, ‘Salvation’s Forgotten Us’. Essence’s music fuses a beautiful blend of indie, folk, soul and pop, delivering a uniquely dream-like soundscape.

With influences from AURORA, Phoebe Bridges and Lizzy Mcalpine, Essence brings a similar aura of charm and emotional depth, delivering impactful statements in her lyricism. ‘Salvation’s Forgotten Us’ is a beautiful example of this, exploring the journey of overcoming external judgements and societal constraints, and finding liberation in being your authentic self.

Sharing her thoughts on the track, Essence has written ‘Lyrically, this song is the most vulnerable and strongest I’ve ever been’. This is powerfully showcased in her poetic storytelling, entering the track with ‘I will relish in flames, knowing I’ve lived untamed’.

Essence’s delicate vocals float over the track, reaching a memorable lift in the chorus. The second verse bursts in with the dynamic entrance of percussion, driven by a striking and impactful drum kick that ignites the song with a spike of energy and cinematic flair. The rich harmonies grow more magical and stirring, with beautiful strings elevating the spirit of the track.

‘Salvation’s Forgotten Us’ is fuelled with authenticity and breathes an air of inspiration for people who are struggling with their identity or expectations, with empowering lyrics ‘My decisions are mine. I’m not meant to be yours to define’.

You can watch the stunning rendition of this song in her live performance video on YouTube, accompanied by her wonderful band. Shot at the picturesque camber sands; you truly feel the excitement and freedom of this song, complimented by this enchanting background. Essence Martins’ ethereal sounds will be taking on Jodie Bryant’s ‘Discover Live’ at The Grace, Islington on October 2nd.
